The Big Brothers Big Sisters program is a one-to-one mentoring program that is in its first year coming into Adena Local Schools. The organizers of this program have paired some of our high school students with some of our elementary students. The high school students that have volunteered to be a big brother or big sister were screened and paired with an elementary student with similar interests. The elementary students in the program meet their big brother or big sister every Wednesday to have the opportunity to do variety of fun activities together. The impact our high school students can make is more than they may realize. Our little ones look forward to this. It will also make a big impact on our high school students. Parents interested in getting their student into the program can contact the elementary office at 740-998-5293.

The Adena Local School District has been made aware that an individual identifying himself as "Ed" is approaching local businesses attempting to sell an ad for the school athletic program. They are asking for credit card information. The school district NEVER uses credit cards for this process. If you are approached by someone selling an ad and asking for credit card information notify the Ross County Sheriff's Office at 740-773-1185 immediately, and do not divulge any credit card information.

Our elementary students are starting to fill up the “Big BLUE Jug” with their tickets that are earned for good behavior. If they fill the jug up, the whole building will get rewarded. They will know the big prize soon. They can earn five different colors of tickets. Each color represents a different location that their PAX behavior was noticed. For instance, a yellow ticket came from a bus driver. Each ticket earned by a student goes towards incentives that can be earned in the classroom. Incentive charts are posted in classrooms. The reaction of a student when they receive a red ticket from the principal is priceless. Those tickets are worth two!

Our application process will be different this year. At 6:30pm on February 1, 2022, a link will go live on our school Facebook account, the Live Feed on our school website, and through text message to families of currently enrolled PK-12 students. This form will replace the paper application that was previously collected on the morning of February 1. Spots will still be filled on a first come, first served basis. In the meantime, if you have questions about our preschool program, please contact Kacey Shaffer at 740-998-6813 or kacey.shaffer@adenalocalschools.com.

Our wrestling team had a successful Christmas toy drive! They donated gifts to a local church in Frankfort and to Mrs. Susan Glandon, our elementary school counselor, so she and some others could distribute gifts to some local families. Awesome! Wresting meet update: Isaac Gray was also named MVP of the Huntington Holiday Classic today!
